‘Nrityavedh’ School of Kathak Dance was established by Madhuri Apte, senior disciple of renowned Kathak Guru Maneesha Sathe in the year 2003 with the aim of spreading the classical dance form of Kathak from North India. Under the guidance of Madhuri, students from various parts of the country undertake training in Kathak in traditional discipline. Apart from imparting practical training to young dancers in this technique, ‘Nrityavedh’ also encourages them to appear for the examinations of Gandharva Mahavidyalaya in order to have a sound footing in theory. It organizes various workshops, lectures and seminars of music, dance and theatre for the all-round development of its students in addition to at least one stage production in a year for all its students.

Regular events and programmes have marked Nrityavedh’s journey in this endeavour. Students from Nrityavedh apart from performing techniques are taught community building, resource sharing and team management, which is also employed in Nrityavedh’s programmes. The student community at Nrityavedh is a vibrant and colourful group, always experimenting and going the distance to create more. It’s a unique melting pot of students of varied ages under one roof committed to perform and spread the magic of Kathak.

Nrityavedh was established on June 14, 2003.
